Enchanted Valley by Harry Muir KurtzworthItem# 12448SOLD Circa 1938 24" high by 30" wide unframed 30" high by 36" wide framed This is a lovely plein air painting on board by listed California artist Harry Muir Kurtzworth (1887-1979). Kurtzworth is listed in Ask Art and Listed Artist's in California by Edan Milton Hughes. The painting is called Enchanted Valley and features a Fall scene of turning foliage in a river valley under a gently rolling mountain. It is signed on the front right bottom corner and in pencil on the back dated 1938. The painting is in very good condition with only slight nicks to the ornate gold frame. The artist was a painter, designer, craftsman and art critic. He was born in Detroit, Michigan 8/12/87. He attended Columbia University, The Detroit Academy of Fine Arts, The Kansas City Art Institute and was the author of several books on Industrial Design. He was also an art director of Los Angeles County Museum of Art and a member of the Los Angeles Art Association. This is a very pleasing painting and would be perfect in any decor.
