Native American geometric hand beaded bag.
Item# 12480
Circa 1920
15" high 14 1/2" wide
This bag is probably Yakima from the Pacific Northwest. It has a blue cotton interior and broken buckshin handles.
There are two interior pockets. The background is solid white seed beads and it has been decorated with a beautiful geometric pattern that contains the colors steel cut black, brown, green and red. The top border is trimmed in turquoise. The sides are in orange beading. The outside trim is brown corduroy. The back is covered in green felt with red rickrack in an X form.
This bag is in exceptionally good condition with only slight soiling on one spot on the white background. The lining is perfect. This is part of a New York collection that is nearly perfect.
