This is a beautiful oil canvas laid down on artist board. The subject is blooming roses in all of their lush presentation. The painting is signed by Camille Elizabeth Dumond (1900-1986) a well listed American artist.
Dumond hails from a painting family which included her father Frederick Melville Dumond, uncle and mother. She studied at ASL of New York and exhibited at the Carmel Art Association, Santa Monica, California Art League, Rockport, Ma Art Association and Copley Society of Boston as well as California Artist Club. She is recognized as an artist and teacher in Davenport's The Golden Edition, Edan Hughes Artist's in America, Ask Art the Blue Book and Falk's Who's Who in American Art 1564-1975 pg. 3724.
Lying on the table in the foreground is a grouping of apples and pears. The painting is signed bottom right and has an ornate gold frame. The condition is excellent.
The painting is in very good condition signed by artist Helen Kask. We have identified the artist Helen Kask as a Napa Valley college teacher of art. She has died in the past 10-15 years. Helen Kask is listed in the American Society of Portrait Painters.
The painting itself measures 12” high by 9” wide. It is in a period gesso frame with several small nicks. The painting is signed in red in the bottom right corner.
This is a wonderful and realistic painting of one of my personal favorite subjects. Easy to live with and a decorative accessory perfect for any gentle decor.
