Custom framed advertising chromolithograph
Item# 4543
Circa 1915
framed 30" high by 23" wide image & matting combined measure 18" high by 15" wide
This is an exceptional advertising calendar from 1915. It was made up for P. Harrington and Sons Wine & Liquors of Manchester, New Hampshire.
The custom framed masterpiece has the full calendar at the bottom and features a gorgeous young woman in a big yellow hat. She is wearing a green dress trimmed with purple violets and ribbons. Her big straw hat is yellow with pale pink wild roses on top. She has a full smile and a come hither look mixed with an exuberant expression of joy.
The frame is vintage handmade with three layers of different wood trims and topped with gesso polychrome red roses. The frame measures 30" long by 23" wide.
The chromolithograph is matted museum style with deep purple silk velvet matt which is laid down on the calendar but not glued. The filet is made of gold bullion and the are embellishments in several corners of handmade French lingerie flowers and silk ribbons.
The interior measurement of the advertisement is 18" long by 15" wide. The framing was professionally done by Venetia Thompson of Principally Pictures in the early 1980's by special order for my extensive advertising and pretty lady collection.
As you may know since my retirement from retail, I have begun to sell my excellent collection one piece at a time. This has always been one of my best. The chromolithograph has several flaws that are very minor but I disclose everything. One run and small scratch near the hat brim and a tiny slit near her jaw line. Other than those mentioned items it is in glorious condition, museum quality and ready to hang in a place of honor.
