Framed hand painted porcelain plaque
Item # 13288
Circa late 19th century
10⅛″ high by 7″ wide
This is an exceptional hand painted porcelain plaque depicting Leda and the Swan. She is dressed like a stunningly beautiful handmaiden with a revealing peasant style blouse. Her skirt is striped and she has a peacock feather fan in her hand. The swan at her feet is large and glances up at her with an imploring look. Her expressions are wistful
And slightly sad. Butterflies abound in the background. She is a great beauty poised and thoughtful. This is a very well painted piece with no attribution. It is in excellent vintage condition and framed in an ornate original frame which is also in good condition.
