Ornate French gesso picture frame

Circa 1900

20 1/2" high by 14 1/2" wide

This is a fabulous gold leaf gesso frame in the Rococo style.

It is oval in shape and measures 201/2" high by 14 1/2" wide. The flourishes at the top measure 5" away from the back. They look like waves of gold and silver.

The frame currently holds a 1908 German chromolithograph of a beautiful girl out of the Arabian Knights and other paper appliqués from the early 1900's. These are mounted on lavender silk velvet material.

This frame is suitable for framing an elegant mirror or just as it is in it's current format. The condition is very good with only minor losses of gold finish that appear silver.
