Circa 1900
42” high by 51” long
This is a beautiful three panel screen in the Eastlake tradition. It is ebonized mat black wood with gold painted inner ridges. The three panels of the screen have been covered with a English Victorian hand painted silk textile. Each panel depicts a group of colorful flowers and a butterfly or moth. All three panels have different flowers. The textile is signed by the artist MCA and dated 1905.
The back of the screen has a simple dark fabric upholstery. The screen and textile coverings are in very good vintage condition but show wear and tear as would be expected in a piece of furniture of this age. The finish trim on each panel is a floral cotton lace embellished with French lingerie ribbon and flowers.
This was a project of my previous design firm Nightingale Designs and was assembled in the late 1980's. It has been in my home as a wall decoration since my store closed.
Because the hinges are old the screen does not fold and will need to be transported by a professional shipper. All pick up, wrapping and shipping are the buyer's choice and the buyers expense. I would suggest a firm such as Craters & Freighters who will give you an estimate of costs using my photos and dimensions.
